  18. -------------------------------------------------
  19. READWRITE KOREAN assists beginners in learning the 
  20. Korean alphabet. Lessons include a structured 
  21. introduction to each letter with examples of 
  22. its pronunciation. Students can use the voice 
  23. recording feature to compare their pronuciation 
  24. with a native speaker's. The writing lessons use 
  25. animation to illustrate letter stroke orders and 
  26. word formation. You can practice writing and receive 
  27. feedback on your efforts. Reading,listening and 
  28. multihoice exercises are also included, which are 
  29. designed to build a simple vocabulary.

  31. Instructions for the use of the program are 
  32. availiable from within the program by clicking on 
  33. the "Instructions" button.

  35. 2. System Requirements
  36. -------------------------------------------------
  37. The minimum system requirements are:
  38.  
  39.     * Microsoft Windows 9X/ME/NT/2000 
  40.  
  41.     * Intel Pentium or AMD K6 class processsor
  42.       (ideally > 166 Mhz);
  43.  
  44.     * At least 800x600 screen resolution;
  45.  
  46.     * Mouse (or other pointing device);
  47.  
  48.     * Soundcard and Speakers (or Headphones);
  49.  
  50.     * Microphone.

  53. 3. Installation/Uninstalling
  54. -------------------------------------------------
  55.  
  56. After downloading the program (rwk_setup.exe), run
  57. the executable and follow the instruction. When the 
  58. installation procedure is completed there will be 
  59. a ReadWrite Korean link in the Windows95/98 Start 
  60. Menu and on the desktop.
  61.  
  62. To uninstall READWRITE KOREAN click the "Add/Remove
  63. Programs" icon in the Control Panel, choose
  64. ReadWrite Korean version 2 from the list of programs 
  65. and click the "Add/Remove" button.

  68. 4. Resolving HanGul Font Problems
  69. -------------------------------------------------
  70.  
  71. On certain machines the Korean unicode font
  72. installation procedure does not work correctly
  73. and Korean script (Hangul) is not displayed
  74. correctly by the program - instead only boxes
  75. or bars are displayed.
  76.  
  77. To resolve this problem, the Korean fonts can 
  78. be installed manually. Below are instructions
  79. for doing so:
  80.  
  81. (i)   Click the "Start" button, choose "Settings" 
  82.       and then "Control Panel";
  83.  
  84. (ii)  Then double click the "Fonts" icon;
  85.  
  86. (iii) Check to see if the "SHEADG.ttf" font appears
  87.       in the list of installed fonts. If so, delete
  88.       it and reboot your machine and then proceed
  89.       with point (iv). Otherwise go directly to 
  90.       point (iv);
  91.  
  92. (iv)  Choose "File" in the Control Panel Font control
  93.       menubar and click "Install New Font...". A 
  94.       dialogue box should appear;
  95.  
  96. (v)   Navigate to the "READWRITE KOREAN" install 
  97.       directory (usually "C:\Program Files\READWRITE KOREAN")
  98.       and the font "SHEADG (TrueType Font)" should appear 
  99.       in the "List of Fonts" text box - select it and 
  100.       press "OK".

  102. That's it, the font has been installed. 
  103.  
  104. You might have to reboot Windows before it works.
  105.

  118. each end user must register his/her individual
  119. copy.

  124. Most lessons in the downloaded version of the 
  125. program have been disabled until the copy is 
  126. registered.

  128. The registration cost is US$20 per copy.
